DAWN is a national surveillance system that monitors trends in drug-related emergency department visits and deaths. In each participating facility, a dedicated "DAWN Reporter" reviews all available records to identify cases in which drug use was a causal or contributing factor. Once these cases are identified, the reporter completes the appropriate forms and submits the information to DAWN.

This computer based training (CBT) instructs the reporter on how to identify DAWN cases and how to correctly complete the form. The tutorial consists of several multi-page lessons with accompanying images when appropriate. At the conclusion of the instruction the potential DAWN reporter must pass a "Mastery Test" to become a certified DAWN Reporter.
